Our Fav “Skinny” Cocktail Recipes

First and foremost, we definitely love going out and having ourselves a good time and a cocktail! Usually when we go out though, we try to avoid sugary drinks as much as we can because they give us horrible hangovers and upset tummy’s - anyone else with us on this one?

We prefer making drinks at home because we avoid the hidden sugars, and we can make sure they are made with fresh & simple ingredients. It’s easy to make the “skinny” versions of cocktails as long as you have some fresh fruits like limes and oranges, sparkling water and a quality bottle of alcohol (we’ve included our favs in the recipes too, btw).

We’ve put together a few of our favorite healthified beverages below that we’ll be sipping while we’re stuck at home. Enjoy!

SPICY SKINNY MARGARITA - We’ve included a recipe we made with our friend, Carissa (@broccyourbody), below for all your margarita happy hours.

Directions:

You can watch the full video of us making this recipe with Carissa and having a real good time here!

Super easy recipe and is such a crowd pleaser!

FRESH SQUEEZED CITRUS COOLER: Jo recently came up with this recipe while she’s been in Palm Springs and wanted a healthier drink option while lounging by the pool!

1.jpg

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Vodka

  • 1.5 oz Sparkling Water - We recommend lemon La Croix

  • 3 oz Fresh Squeeze Grapefruit Juice

  • Splash of Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice

  • Juice from 1/2 of a lime

  • Splash of Agave (if you want it even sweeter - but you usually don’t need much!)

  • Ice

What Else You Need:

  • Citrus Squeezer - linked here

  • Cocktail Shaker - linker here

Directions:

  • Fill cup with ice cubes.

  • Shake Vodka in shaker to chill and then add in the fresh squeezed juices into your shaker, shake it up and then pour into cup.

  • Top off your glass with sparkling water

  • Drink up!

CUCUMBER VODKA SODA: Randomly threw this drink together before we had some friends over to pregame! So refreshing and tasty. It has some fun texture to it from the blended cucumber and lime.

Ingredients

  • Vodka - we like Tito’s or Grey Goose

  • Cucumber

  • Limes

  • Fresh Mint

  • Sparkling Water

  • Liquid Sugar in the Raw or Agave

What Else you Need:

  • Magic Bullet - linked here

  • Cocktail Shaker - linker here

  • Vegetable shaver (or you can use a knife but be careful!)

Directions:

  1. Make the cucumber juice - Shave the cucumber so the skin is fully removed. Cut cucumber into chunks so you can easily throw into the Magic Bullet Blender. Add 1/4 cup of water. Blend until it’s fully liquid - no chunks!

  2. In the shaker - add ice, pour in 1 shot of vodka (or however much, depending on how turnt you’re trying to get), 1/4 cup of the cucumber juice, half of a lime and 1 tsp of agave/liquid cane sugar

  3. In your glass add ice cubes, pour in sparkling water and then finish off with the ingredients in the shaker

  4. Add fresh mint and cucumbers on the top

  5. Enjoy!

SKINNY MOSCOW MULE: Moscow Mules are one of our favorite drinks to order when we’re out! But they cant often be packed with sugar and make us super hungover the next day. We’ve come up with a skinny version that cuts down on unneeded sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts sugar free ginger beer - we recommend Reed’s Zero Sugar

  • 2 parts chilled vodka

  • 1 part lime juice

  • 1 Tsp grated ginger

  • Fresh Mint

What Else You Need:

  • Copper mugs

Directions:

  1. Fill cup with ice cubes

  2. Muddle the ginger and lime juice together. Then pour over ice.

  3. Pour in sugar free ginger beer and mix together

  4. Serve with fresh mint leaves as garnish

And just for fun, here are some more pictures of us getting our drank on and having a good time!
