5 Reasons You Should be Cross-Training
First off, what is cross-training?
It basically means you mix up up your workouts incorporating different types/styles of exercise. Cross training is helpful for the serious one sport athlete trying to increase their fitness level or someone staying fit who doesn’t want to get bored. We have been big promoters of cross training since we started S&T and personally testify to how much it helps mentally and physically with our fitness goals.
NO BOREDOM - mixing things up and trying new things makes it SO much more interesting than doing the same damn thing every day. Give yourself a chance to get EXCITED about a new workout.
REDUCE INJURY RISK - helps you prevent over use of certain muscles from. Mixing up your workouts can improve strength in supporting muscle groups to help you avoid over use.
RECOVERY - Active recovery activities like yoga or a long walk help to reduce soreness and increase blood floor.
FULL BODY CONDITIONING - Hit every muscle group! Boxing, biking, yoga…whatever the combo - if you are mixing up your workout styles it is an effective way to condition different muscle groups and be sure to never plateau.
BALANCE - Remove imbalance in your body from over use. Reduce over reliance on certain muscle groups and have strong core strength. Bonus: cross training also helps your posture!
